HD809 is the ideal HD 1080p high magnification high quality digital microscope with a large variety of objective lenses and rear coupler pairing options to help achieve the desired high magnification range for your application needs. The manual focus system incorporates cutting-edge US optics 12x ultra zoom lens body to deliver superior resolution with internal focus and aperture adjustments. The zoom lens body can include detent click stops, which are beneficial for video measurement applications, or come without detent click stops for more general inspection applications. The zoom body also features a coaxial light port for brightfield coaxial lighting applications needed for wafer and die inspections.
The high quality digital microscope comes standard with a 1x objective lenses paired with a 1x rear coupler, which will give diagonal field of view range of 0.434 inches to 0.036 inches (11mm to 0.9mm) at 3.39 inches working distance (86 mm). When configured with a 24” HD monitor, this will equate to magnification range of 55x-667x. Other optional objective lenses and rear couplers can be added to the system to achieve a possible magnification range of 7x to 52437x. The microscope can also be paired with a 12” monitor to halve the magnification range and also saving on monitor benchtop footprint. With long possible working distance range of 0.51 inches to 13.4 inches, the HD809 has good clearance to provide excellent image quality for production, QC, QA, FA and R&D applications.
The digital microscope camera offers outstanding image quality at 60 frames per second for real time inspection and viewing. It has HDMI output to connect directly to a monitor and an SD card to save media to without connection to a computer. Images are saved in 6 MP resolution (3264×1836) and motion videos in HD 1080p for future reference, training and communications with other colleagues. The camera also features integrated measurement tools, allowing image processing and measurement features to be easily controlled with USB mouse for a completely independent functional inspection unit. If needed, the HD809 has USB output for direct connection to computer for full operations on the PC.
In addition to the different objective lenses and rear couplers available for the system, the HD809 also can be configured with a differential interference contrast (DIC) module that can be used with included coaxial lighting to provide 3D topographical imaging of the inspected surface. Stand options for the microscope include basic stand, back lighting stand, dual sliding arm stand, and boom stand. Depending on stand chosen, viewing angle may be adjusted from top-down viewing to oblique side profile viewing. The HD809 comes standard with a high intensity adjustable LED ring light with dimmer glass, and also coaxial lighting. Other lighting options, such as polarizer lighting, dual arm fiber light guide, and fluorescent/halogen lighting can also be supplemented to the unit. XY measurement stages are also available to pair with the included video measurement software for refining routine measurements. For more specific customizations, please contact us with your application needs.

Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) Module Option
The HD809 high quality digital microscope can be configured with a differential interference contrast (DIC) module. DIC, when used with brightfield illumination, can often be interpreted as a true three-dimensional representation of the surface geometry. It provides a clear distinction between raised and lowered regions in the specimen being viewed.
Using the DIC module in reflected light situations
Two polarizers, one in the illumination axis and one in the viewing axis, are crossed at 90 degrees such that when looking at a perfectly mirrored surface all light is extinguished by the second polarizer.
A prism, made from two pieces of quartz, is then placed between the illuminator beamsplitter and the objective. Due to the optical properties of the quartz, the polarized beam is split into two. The two beams, separated by a minuscule amount, are polarized at 90 degrees to each other and one beam is shifted in relation to the other – a phase shift.
If the subject being viewed exhibits properties that change the length of the optical path of either beam (such as surface profiles, optical densities, etc.), both beams will experience further phase shifts.
With transverse movement of the prism the phase shifting performance of the prism may be accentuated and the final image is modified. By adding a polarization modifier, such as a 1/4 wave plate, after the illumination polarizer, the final effects are modified further.
The DIC module works with object side NAs ranging from 0.05 to 0.50, with optimum performance in the range from 0.15 to 0.4. Lens attachments, operating in the above range will serve for macro applications. Any infinity corrected objectives designed for incident light will suffice for micro applications.
